The Netherlands: Looking for a Few Good Prostitutes

Mayor Annemarie Jorritsma-Lebbink of Almere said on Dutch television that she backed the idea of sending prostitutes to accompany Dutch troops on foreign missions. “The army must consider ways its soldiers can let off steam,” she said. What good will come from sending prostitutes over to Afghanistan? “Let off steam”.. oooh come on.. those guys are on a serious mission. Geez.. Its probably the craziest idea ive heard lately. Cant believe why people can be so ignorant. Imagine what the world will think about our country.. We already got some bad credits for our “tolerant” policy.

The country’s largest supermarket chain is under fire from animal rights activists for introducing halal meat, which is prepared according to Islamic religious rules. The Party for the Animals, which is expected to win a seat in Parliament next month, said members had sent more than 5,000 complaints to the Albert Heijn chain. The main point of contention is that most of the animals are slaughtered without sedation or painkillers. A spokesman for Albert Heijn said the company hoped to attract business from the country’s one million Muslims.

Weather and some education

Yea, its definitely over with the good weather in the Netherlands. Yes its the Netherlands, cause “Holland” actually is: Noord-Holland & Zuid-Holland, which are two Providences in the Netherlands. So Holland isn’t a country. French people call it Le Pays-Bas :-) Croatian people call it Nizozemska, which both means Lowland, cause of the sea-level. The Providence where I live (Flevoland), is the largest man-made island in the world, it sure is notable. Wikipedia: “They are two separate polders that have a joint hydrological infrastructure, with a dividing dike in the middle, the Knardijk, that will keep one polder safe should the other be flooded. Together they form the largest man-made island in the world.”

More fun facts about Almere from Wikipedia:
A large lake that in early times was in the area of the southern part of the Zuiderzee. In “Almere”, mere means “lake” or “lakes”.

A municipality in the central Netherlands, in Zuid-Flevoland, which is a polder reclaimed from the IJsselmeer. It was named after the old lake. Its first house was ready in 1976.

Part where I live is called Almere-Buiten, which means Almere-outside. There is also a prison/penitentiary? in Almere which is called Almere-Binnen, meaning Almere-inside. Kinda funny, if you ask me.

destination doesnt matter, as long as we’ll be back tomorrow

its saturday and we need to do some groceries, but who cares if it comes from barcelona or london

I bet berlin bread is fine and kopenhagen veggies can be lovely too

Exhausted

ROC-school yesterday. Got there at 8.30. Found out that there was some sort of boot camp set up for us. Whoops, didn’t have breakfast. That’s a bad start. It went something like this: sit-ups, push-ups, sit-ups with a ball, steps, dips, running back and forth jumping over benches, should I go on? We had to do every part for 45 sec, then you had 45 seconds to “rest”. Which isn’t enough, let me remind you. My girls did a better job than I did, they were extremely focused! lol. The one thing that worked in my favor, was running, I’m a runner! It was a interesting beginning of my day.

Still a day at school
