Nou speciaal voor mn vaste crew.. hier een update. Hmm.. ik ben véél aan het werk. Soms heb ik het idee dat ik meer op Schiphol leef =) Gelukkig heb ik superleuke collega’s en ééntje is mn liefje Lesley. We hebben altijd wel fun als we samen een shift hebben.. of niet> chercher la petite bête!! Vandaag even een voordringende (is dat een bestaand woord?) foreigner afgestraft bij Food Village. ‘Excuse me.. I was first in line’.. ‘Are you sure..?’ ‘Yea I’m sure, so excuse me. Tháánnk you’. Ach je had erbij moeten zijn. Mn vluchten vandaag waren wel oke.. Vanmorgen Johannesburg, daarna Washington op D43 (ver-schrik-kelijk-e gate) en als laatste Tokyo.. Ik mag me over 40 uur weer melden, dus ik ga nu lekker niks doen! x voor moksiemetie =)

De F16′s van de luchtmachtbasis in Leeuwarden waren op weg naar Zeeland omdat de luchtverkeersleiding daar geen contact kon maken met een vliegtuig. Doordat de F16′s harder dan 1000 kilometer per uur vlogen en dus door de geluidsbarrière gingen, ontstond er een zogenaamde sonic boom. In gewone situaties wordt boven Nederland niet zo snel gevlogen.

De zware knal die boven Almere ontstond, was in een groot deel van Nederland te horen. De politie Flevoland liet weten dat ze ‘talloze’ telefoontjes van verontruste burgers heeft gekregen. In Almere zijn zelfs ruiten gesneuveld. Zelfs in Rotterdam was de dreun te horen.

Het onbekende toestel bleek een helikopter te zijn die was opgestegen van Lelystad Airport. Het lukte de piloot niet om radiocontact te maken, waarna het protocol in werking trad. De helikopter is later geland in Bergen op Zoom. De piloot kon toen wel contact leggen.

health vs money
Okay, an “I owe you” on the subject health care in the United States of America. I’ve seen the new movie by Michael Moore, “Sicko”. If you haven’t seen it yet, what you’re waiting for? This movie shows the important issues that are threatening health care in America. It’s very hard to watch -very unbelievable- especially when you live in a country that doesn’t come across this huge problems with health care. Don’t you think it’s rather shocking that the World Health Organisation ranked the United States of America on the 37th spot on their list??

Amsterdam
Gisteren waren we naar Bobby z’n Bul-uitreiking op het Spui in Amsterdam. Hij heeft rechten gestudeerd dus dat mocht wel gevierd worden. Daarna hebben we gezellig met z’n allen gegeten en hebben we nog even door Amsterdam rondgelopen. Rond vier uur waren we allemaal bij de Bijenkorf en Lesley en ik bleven nátuurlijk hangen bij alle make-up. Daarna zijn we gestrand bij het merk La Mer, met cremés en serums van honderden euro’s. Nu hebben we alletwee een héél klein potje van the liquid gold. Maar.. gisteravond was er op het nieuws dan een vrouw met een baby in de Bijenkorf van het balkon -vier hoog- is gesprongen. Ik wist niet wat ik las. Het baby’tje is kort daarna overleden. Gisteren mensen.. twee uur nadat wij in de Bijenkorf waren. En ik ga zelden naar de Bijenkorf. Ongelooflijk.

stand van zaken
Mn mamita ligt nog steeds in het ziekenhuis, vandaag twee weken. Ze gaan nu beginnen met nieuwe medicijnen. Als die ook niet aanslaan, dan gaan ze opereren, ze halen dan de milt weg. Er wordt elke dag bloed geprikt en ze hebben ook een beenmerg biopsie gedaan. De ene dag gaat Palma op bezoek en de andere dag ga ik. Ik was er eergisteren, en ik ga zo ook weer. Ze vroeg me laatst of ze mijn gameboy ds mocht lenen.. grappig! Maargoed, ze blijft voorlopig nog wel in het ziekenhuis. Ik spreek haar gelukkig wel elke dag, want ze belt gewoon met dr mobieltje.. ik betwijfel of dat eigenlijk mag haha. Verder heb ik Senka gisteren gesproken enne.. ongerustheid runs in the family! kusje dre

Livin’ the island-life
Hi there,
I’m in a internet-cafe right now, trying to catch up on the blogspot. I really tried to post some of my adventures earlier, but the island-life is makin’ me lazy.. arrggh. Like my sister wrote on her hyves-blog, we have a tight schedule, haha. We ˝have˝ to get up around ten, then get some fresh bread and a newspaper (that keeps us updated), then sit somewhere on the beach and enjoy an early coffee. Then some breakfast, sleep for about one hour (because it’s too hot!), and then try to get our lazy butts to the beach. We usually go to Aquarius (sooo the place to be during the day, it’s on the beach) where you can find a DJ who mixes some great music. So that combined with a drink, a great temperature and a view that is amazing..wow. That’s going on every day. At night we go to the city (by boat), have drinks, sometimes some ice-cream, and watch the gorgeous boats that are here at the ˝Riva˝ or boulevard. But it’s not always city-fun here. Sometimes we decide to stay home or walk on the beach at night. It hasn’t been this great all the time, weather-wise. There were some island-storms and it can be pretty cold then. And maybe some of you heard about it in the news, but there’s a big fire in Dubrovik at the moment (article). People got evacuated and firefighters from all around have been busy trying to get it under control. I hope it will be okay soon. Last week we went shopping with Senka in Split. It was great to be back in that city http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split, it’s really beautiful and it has a great history. When we were heading to Split, we saw a terrible accident that had just happened. Later that day we heard it was indeed serious and some people didn’t survive. It even made the newspapers here, felt sick instantly. But enough about the bad things, it makes me =(. On Sunday we are flying in a private-plane (a small one) with Senka’s partner. He will fly us over some islands and eventually to Sinj. I can’t wait.. that has to be nice. I ran out of inspiration, so I’m checking out!

Spieren van schouders en rug

● Deltaspier (m. deltoideus)

Werking: deel dat aan schouderbladsgraat ontspringt; draait de arm naar buiten, voert de arm aan en heft de arm achterwaarts. ● Brede rugspier (m. latissimus dorsi)

Aanhechting: de kam van de kleine opperarmbeenknobbel.
Werking: aanvoeren van de arm en trekt een geheven arm omlaag en naar achteren, trekt tevens schoudergordel omlaag en naar achteren.
● Ruggenstrekkers
Min of meer verticaal langs de wervelkolom verloopt een groot aantal spieren. Naarmate de spiervezels meer verticaal verlopen dienen ze voor het strekken van de wervelkolom, de min of meer schuin verlopende spieren helpen mee de wervelkolom te draaien.
Armspieren
● Tweehoofdige armspier (m. biceps)
Oorsprong: het lange hoofd ontspringt aan de bovenkant van de gewrichtskom van het schoudergewricht. Het korte hoofd ontspringt aan het ravebeksuitsteeksel van het schouderblad.
Aanhechting: spaakbeenknobbel en de fascie van de spieren van de onderarm.
Werking: lange hoofd: in het schoudergewricht; zwakke afvoerder (abductor) van de arm, in het ellebooggewricht; buigen en supineren van de onderarm.
Korte hoofd: in het schoudergewricht; voorwaarts heffen (adductie) van de bovenarm, in het ellebooggewricht; buigen en supineren van de onderarm. Beide hoofden buigen de arm in het ellebooggewricht en supineren de onderarm en hand.
● Driehoofdige armspier (m. triceps)
Oorsprong: het lange hoofd ontspringt aan het uitsteeksel van het schouderblad. Het binnenste hoofd: binnenachterkant van het opperarmbeen. Buitenste hoofd: buitenachterkant van het opperarmbeen.
Aanhechting: ellebooguitsteeksel.
Werking: het lange hoofd voert de arm aan (adductie) in het schoudergewricht, alle hoofden strekken de arm in het ellebooggewricht.
● Opperarm-spaakbeenspier (m. brachioradialis)
Oorsprong is aan het opperarmbeen. Buigen van de arm in het ellebooggewricht; afhankelijk van de
stand van de onderarm vanuit het ellebooggewricht helpt de spier mee met supinatie of met pronatie
van de onderarm en hand.

Tough times to make you realise..
Sometimes there are tough times in which we need things that makes life easier and things that lift us up. Support from family and friends that give us hope. The small things in life that the Lord shows us. A beautiful sunny day when it was supposed to be raining. 7/7/7.
My family.. I love them deeply. My dad, he had a myocardial infarction (HA) Wednesday, July 4th. It was one of the scariest moments in my life. To see my dad hooked on all those machines, it broke my heart. It was a tough couple of days. I realise that life ís precious and we have to appreciate it every day. It’s cliché, but very true! I can’t thank the Lord enough for His power. My mom, for being so strong right now. Palma, you’re my everything.. you know that. Sometimes it’s crazy to see how much we are alike. Two individuals with one soul. The rest of my family, in Croatia and USA. Thanks Josko, for calling me all the way from CA. Senka, I’ll see you in a couple of weeks, when we’ll probably have a espresso on your porch in sunny Cro.
I had one of the best conversations with some of my closest friends this past weekend while returning from a wedding. It was so honest and pure. It was a moment I’ll never forget. Those friends can’t be described with even a million words. They are the ones who stand by you, no matter what! If you make a mistake, and fall down.. they will catch you. I wish that everyone could have friends like that. I feel blessed to know them and I’m writing this down to try to explain how much I love them. They are my family too. Thanks B, for giving me the best advice and teaching me valuable lessons. L, you’re my little sister. You’re inspiring and I’m so proud of you. C, for always listening and just being you. We go way back. M, you.. are my bubbles, my moksimetie, I heart u. That’ll never change. You let me be me, always. Bo, that inspiring conversation at C’s birthday, wow. Take good care of your girl. All you guys were amazing this weekend. It was a emotional week. My dad, who couldn’t be there on my graduation-day. I know.. you’re proud. I know that. I think about you all the time and I’m glad I could be there today in the hospital and have some q-time with you. Get better soon so you can show me the house this summer.

First of all: I’m so tired. I really don’t have much energy left after these long days that are either filled with studying for my exams or rehearsing for our play. No joke. But there’s a good side to this story, it will all be over in about ten days. Tomorrow is a big day for me, I’m participating in a play at a school. What I want
Ik kan gewoon niét een leuke zomervakantie hebben zonder naar Cro te gaan, thats my home too! Vorig jaar had ik daar echt een jet-set week, inclusief een dagje Split, beach-clubbin’ en een zwaar tekort aan slaap. Een weekje is te weinig! Minstens een week of drie
Al mn familie en bekenden/vrienden daar, en de parental units die ondertussen een huis (lees; meer een villa) aan het bouwen zijn. een leuke baan als ik klaar ben met mn studie
Ik twijfel nog. Misschien solliciteren als grondstewardess op Schiphol, of een leuke baan in een administratieve sector. Jaa héél anders als je kijkt naar mn opleidingen. Misschien ga ik later toch nog wat doen met mn diploma schoonheidsspecialiste of alsnog werken als onderwijsassistent (juf…juuuuuf) haha. You tell me

Naar het buitenland! Ik weet dat ik niet in Nederland wil blijven. Ik denk dat ik naar het continent Noord-Amerika zou willen gaan, misschien nog wel het liefst naar Canada. Maar dan wel dicht bij de States, dus Vancouver ofzo (wel koud daar… bleegh). Whatever happens, happens. Of Jamaica, jaaa. Lekker HOT.

Liberation Day / Bevrijdingsdag
is celebrated each year on May 5 in the Netherlands to mark the end of the German occupation during the Second World War. The nation was liberated largely by Canadian troops. On May 5, 1945, the Canadian General Charles Foulkes and the German Commander-in-Chief Johannes Blaskowitz reached an oral agreement on the capitulation of Germany in Hotel “De Wereld” in Wageningen. One day later, the capitulation document was signed in the auditorium of the Agricultural University located next to the hotel. After the liberation in 1945 the decision was made that Liberation Day was going to be celebrated every 5 years. Only in 1990, the day was declared a national holiday, on which the liberation would be commemorated and celebrated annually. On May 4 the Dutch remember the people who have fought for and died during World War II, and wars in general. Lange dag
Pracht & Kraal was echt ontzettend leuk om te zien. Van kettingen en Afrikaanse gewaden tot de mooiste jurken die zelfs echt gedragen zijn door onder andere Marilyn Monroe.
Ik wilde heel graag naar de tentoonstelling van Che Guevara. Zoveel foto’s en plaatjes gezien, maar nooit echt begrepen waar de man voor gestreden heeft. Nu geleerd dat hij een vrijheidsstijder was, in de jaren 60 gevangen genomen werd en op een geheime locatie in Bolivia is vermoord. Dertig jaar later krijgt hij een staatsbegrafenis op Cuba. Interessant.
En ook wat minder leuke dingen vandaag. Na het Tropenmuseum ben ik Belin gaan opzoeken in het AvL-ziekenhuis. Heel moeilijk, confronterend ook.

Wat haat ik het als de wekker zo vroeg gaat. Een ontzettend leuke dag gehad in Rotterdam met de ChIcAs.. We zijn met twee auto’s op pad gegaan en needless to say; onze auto was gezelliger.. gniffel. Lekker gebounced met de raampjes open en de zonnebrillen op
Maar mn Lara Croft verschijning heeft een staartje gekregen, jaajaa… Ik hoorde vandaag nadrukkelijk dat ik vrijdag “echt” gezellig was. En bedankt! Ach jaa, mn outfit ligt weer in de kast en komt voorlopig niet tevoorschijn> dus jammer joh !!!! Fatoe liefjes, hou van jullie allemaal!! x

Mn weekend
Vandaag was zo’n lekkere opruimdag! Zoveel gedaan.. heerlijk, nadat ik vanmorgen een beetje ellendig mn mandje uitkroop. Gister erg leuk feestje gehad bij Fransje! Het thema was Movie-Star-Reunion. Vrijdagavond mocht ik even Lara Croft zijn, en dat was erg leuk! Heb zelfs nog even in de boom gehangen in de voortuin… Foto’s komen nog Ik heb nog heel veel andere famous people gezien, Mia Wallace (Pulp Fiction), Marilyn Monroe, James Bond met Bondgirl, Pretty Woman JR, Riddick, Mr. and Ms. Smith en nog veeeel meer. Morgen weer vroeg opstaan, das wel minder. Maar het belooft een gezellige dag te worden met de girls. Schiphol
I got up at 7 this morning to go to Schiphol! Its always fun being there, almost like its a culture of its own. My mom had a safe flight to Zagreb and from there she went to Split. It was kinda weird to say goodbye, the next time I’ll see her will be in March or April. Im gonna miss her.

January-update
Work starts tomorrow and I’m really excited! After all these (holi)days its time to get back in the rhythm that makes me get up at 6 am every morning. Only four weeks left and then my internship ends, which kinda makes me sad 
I got so attached to the kids and that’s probably the hardest part.
I can’t believe that its already January, time goes by so fast! A new year with new dreams and goals.
But first things first, my mom is going to Croatia on Sunday (oh mom I really wish I could go too!) She is going to stay a couple of months to finish some paperwork about their building permits.

Dutch talk
Hehe eindelijk ga ik ff wat in ‘t nl schrijven. Heb niet veel bijzonders te melden hoor. Het is al erg laat nu maar Palli en ik zijn nog lekker aan het chillen. Natuurlijk met leuke musica, want ‘t blijft tenslotte zaterdagavond. We hebben de hele avond Grey’s en D zitten kijken. Verder hebben we vanavond heerlijk gekookt, lekka lekka. Tijd gaat snel, ‘t is al bijna twee uur. Morgen ga ik joggen en aan mn studie werken. Het wordt erg druk deze week, maandagavond sint-viering met het team van Het Drieluik. Ik heb zo’n leuk cadeautje gekocht vandaag! En nog ruim binnen het budget. Nu nog twee lelijke/verschrikkelijke/onbruikbare spullen zoeken om in te pakken, want jaa.. je moet ook twee cadeautjes meenemen die je niet mag kopen, maar waar je graag vanaf wil. Not that easy.. maar ‘t gaat lukken. gewoon ff wat bij Palli scoren haha – grapje hoor!
Verder komt de sint dinsdag bij ons op bezoek.. en dan.. dan is het klaar met die man uit Spanje. Dan komt Kerst, veel gezelliger! Anyway.. Ik ga zo naar mn mandje, want ik ben best wel een beetje exhausted. Ik heb te weinig geslapen deze week, gem. 5,5 uur per nacht. Weet je, als je 10 dagen niet slaapt, ga je dood. Je lichaam kan het niet aan, dus ik wil echt meer gaan slapen!! Je gaat sneller dood aan slaaptekort dan aan voedseltekort. Erg he?

Interesting day
Woke up too late this morning.. in a rushhhh. Boring day at ROC. Then I had to go home and change in 10 minutes, pack my bag and make sure that I didn’t forget my stuff for Amsterdam. Which I did. Unbelievable, but I forgot my tickets. Couldn’t go back, cause of an appointment with my optician at 5 pm, I’ve spent too much time there lately. After that I had to go back to pick up my tickets. Another 30 min lost in the train.
It’s getting worse.
Belin and I got on the train… and missed our station. We ended up in Muiderpoort and we were already running late. Arrgh. Found a sprinter to Duivendrecht and continued our journey. Let me remind y’all that at this time the kick-off party already started. We got to the Arena and I suggested to follow the people in front of us.. stupid idea, cause they were headed to the Heineken Music Hall instead of the Arena. So we made a grand-tour around the whole Arena and another 10 minutes passed.
Finally.. We made it. It was an interesting journey today.
We had fun. Future plans for the Admirals are nice, Bart Andrus gave a good speech. Smith and Ballard, nice to see them again.
I miss it. It doesn’t start until Friday 20th of April.. that’s a long time.

Yesterday was voting-day. I think it’s amazing that I can vote, it’s a possibility to speak up and I plan to use it always. I followed it last night on tv, and I was suprised (read: happy) with the outcome. Now it’s up to them to start to negotiating. I hope it’s final pretty soon. The Dutch people have let them know it’s time for some change and I hope they will listen. We’ll see.

THE HAGUE, Nov. 22 — The Dutch appeared sure to keep their prime minister, the conservative Jan Peter Balkenende, based on preliminary results from the general elections on Wednesday.
But the results also showed that the new government would probably shift to the left, signaling challenges to come on recent tough anti-immigration measures and on cutbacks in social welfare programs.
With 98 percent of the votes counted, the prime minister’s Christian Democrat Party remained the largest, but it lacked the votes to form a government by itself. Its partner in government until now, the rightist Liberal Party, lost ground, so Mr. Balkenende will have to turn to the larger left-of-center Labor Party and others for help.
Negotiations to form a cabinet may take weeks. But the results of the elections, which had a turnout of 80 percent, showed a more polarized country. Small groups on both the far left and the far right made large gains at the expense of the parties closer to the political center.
Mr. Balkenende, 50, conceded that the results would mean difficult negotiations to form a parliamentary majority.
His party, which appeared to win 41 of Parliament’s 150 seats, will be deeply at odds with the Labor Party, with 32 seats, on critical issues like social spending, taxes, pensions and immigration policy.
“We are the biggest, but the result is complicated,” Mr. Balkenende told cheering supporters. “We now need determination and cool heads.”
In a first for Europe, a party advocating animal welfare will have two seats in Parliament. Marianne Thieme, the leader of the Party for Animals, has campaigned to curb experiments and inhumane large-scale industrial breeding and slaughter.
But the greatest surprise was the gain by the far left Socialist Party, led by Jan Marijnissen, an outspoken advocate for the working class. A former welder and once a Maoist, Mr. Marijnissen led the party from its inflexible Communist roots to become a broad protest movement that gained wide backing from people of various political stripes, as well as artists and intellectuals.
Nicknamed the Wizard of Oss, after his hometown, he became famous when he turned out to be one of the main architects of the Dutch vote that rejected the European Constitution in June 2005.
His party appeared to win 26 seats, a leap from its previous 9 seats, which makes it the third-largest bloc. The party’s symbol is a tomato, which is meant to evoke a handy weapon to throw at fat cats and power-hungry politicians.
“I’m a deeply happy man today,” Mr. Marijnissen said. “It means that several million people have said they want a more caring society.”
His group has called for more teachers, more care for the elderly, free child care and more public transportation.
He and Wouter Bos, the leader of the Labor Party, have both pledged to fight for amnesty for the thousands of failed asylum seekers, many of them in hiding, who are awaiting deportation from the Netherlands.
But this does not mean the country has wholly changed its anti-immigrant direction. The new far-right Party of Freedom, led by Geert Wilders, won nine seats on an anti-immigration platform. One of Mr. Wilders’s favorite slogans is, “Stop the influence of Islam in the Netherlands.” Many Dutch resent the recent arrival of close to a million Muslims in their midst, many from Morocco and Turkey.
Mr. Balkenende has supported immigration restrictions and has urged both Muslims and the Dutch to make greater efforts at integrating the newcomers.
Above all, Mr. Balkenende has been a calming presence during the past four years of turmoil, including two political murders and often rancorous anti-immigration, anti-Muslim debates.
Long derided as dull and homey, it appears he and his party are still favored by voters who want social peace and like his emphasis on the need for more decency, less crime and more respect for civic values.
“I voted Balkenende because I don’t want a leftist government that hits us with taxes and lets immigrants live on welfare,” said Loes Fijneman, a storeowner.
“But he has to insist that Muslims respect our way of life. Christians are also expected to abide by the rules in Muslim countries.”

Im usually not a fan of hospitals, doctors etc We are working with the theme “you, your body, doctor” etc. The kids love it, they have a “doctor’s office” in the classroom (even a waiting room!). While they were playing, I decided to visit their practice.
”My knee hurts’, I said. ‘What do you guys think it is?’ Your knee is broken, juf (dutch word for a female teacher). ‘Broken?’, kinda upset. They immediathly started looking in their basket (filled with things you can find at the doctor’s). Band-aid, tape, even a stetohoscope. They even gave me some “shots”… Within two minutes everything was okay and I could go “home”. One kid adviced me to come back tomorrow, for a check-up. Aint that funny? Love kids.

Weather and some education
Yea, its definitely over with the good weather in the Netherlands. Yes its the Netherlands, cause “Holland” actually is: Noord-Holland & Zuid-Holland, which are two Providences in the Netherlands. So Holland isn’t a country. French people call it Le Pays-Bas Croatian people call it Nizozemska, which both means Lowland, cause of the sea-level. The Providence where I live (Flevoland), is the largest man-made island in the world, it sure is notable. Wikipedia: “They are two separate polders that have a joint hydrological infrastructure, with a dividing dike in the middle, the Knardijk, that will keep one polder safe should the other be flooded. Different countries
I don’t love the Netherlands.
It’s often cold and it rains most of the time.
I love Croatia.
My mom comes from there and it’s by far the most beautiful country in the world (to me). The summers are hot, the people are kind and very helpful. When I’m there, I just feel at home. It’s a place that makes you forget about your worries and problems. When I get back to the Netherlands after spending some time there, it always feels strange. The part where you could find me is near Split, it’s an island called Ciovo. My mom and dad are building their own house over there. When it’s finished, they will move there. I actually don’t have any family here in the Netherlands, so it’s hard to imagine that i’ll be here all my life.
I love the U.S.
I have family in California; they live in Laguna Niguel and in Alisio Viejo. I still want to visit them once, that would be great! Ever since I was a little girl, I love the US. Love the white mailboxes, with red flags and paper boys throwing newspapers every morning. Love the Star Spangled Banner, the suburbs, American football, James Dean, shopping malls.

With your inquisitive mind and insatiable curiosity, you’re probably a great problem solver. And you always gather all of the facts before coming to a timely, informed decision.
